Parade Participation Information

Our patriotic parade exemplifies the enthusiasm of Napa Valley's community as we celebrate our nation's birthday and our unique culture together. EVERYONE is invited! Space is limited so register early. Registration closes June 15, 2018.

While there is no fee to participate in the parade, please consider making a $25 donation to support this worthwhile charitable community event.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Individuals, Families, Non-profit organizations, Service clubs, and Businesses are invited to enter! Go all out with the red, white, and blue! Wear it, decorate with it, and wave it proudly! Everyone is invited to participate as we celebrate our Nation’s birthday and the lifestyle we enjoy in the Napa Valley.

WHAT KIND OF PARADE IS THIS?

A Patriotic Parade! This year’s theme is “Celebrate Red, White & Blue”. All entries are to be decorated in red, white, and blue. Build a float, drive your classic car, hop on a firetruck, or ride a horse! Show your patriotism and be a part of the parade that exemplifies the enthusiasm of Napa Valley’s community!

July 4th …of course! Starts at 11:00 AM

Cedar Street to Lincoln Avenue to Fair Way…and right on into the Carnival & Star-Spangled Social!

NEW THIS YEAR…

Prize monies will be awarded for Best of Show in the Float category and all parade participants are invited to the Star-Spangled Social at the fairgrounds featuring carnival, contests, golf ball drop and fireworks. Discount ticket information will be sent with your registration confirmation.

JUDGING CATEGORIES

Floats

Theme: how creatively and effectively does the entry communicate the theme of the parade
Originality: how does the entry showcase originality in design, features and material chosen for construction
Visual Effects: is the entry visually appealing, is the organization clearly identified
Audio Effects: how does the entry make use of sound and does the music enhance the effect
Costumes / People: does the entry make use of people and do the costumes enhance the entry

Bands

Theme: how creatively and effectively does the entry communicate the theme of the parade
Uniforms / Appearance: neat and coordinated
Visual Effects: group maneuver, synchronization and movement
Sound Quality: in tune, rhythm and alignment

Groups

Choreography: synchronization, movement, rhythm and alignment
Costumes / Appearance: neat and coordinated
Energy: how energetic and enthusiastic was the group
Music: sound quality

Clowns/Characters

Costumes: colorful, crowd pleasing
Performance: how was the energy, the enthusiasm

Cars, Fire Equipment

Decorations: Use of decorations and/or decorations well fit and not falling off
Theme: Incorporation of theme
Overall Presentation: Spirit of parade (smiling, waving enthusiasm)

Horses/Equestrian

Horse and rider: Clean/well groomed
Decorations: Decorations and/or decorations well fit and not falling off
Theme: Ability to follow theme
Overall Presentation: Spirit of parade (smiling, waving enthusiasm)

  • The Napa County Fair Association has been producing the 4th of July Fireworks show and Parade for over 80 years!
