Volunteers & Opportunities

Celebrate! Napa Valley celebrates community and its success would not be possible without the generous support of time and talents by our volunteers. We appreciate your consideration to become a volunteer and want you to know that we believe in providing a fun and respectful environment for our volunteers. In return, we ask that you make the same commitment to the community and your fellow volunteers.

We're looking for volunteers who embody the Napa Valley spirit - those that enjoy people and revel in providing a warm, genuine reception that creates a memorable experience for our guests.

Fourth of July Volunteer Registration

Join Calistoga for our Fourth of July Parade, Carnival, Star-Spangled Social, and Fireworks this July 4th as a Volunteer! Bring the whole family!

Dubbed the Star-Spangled Social, our celebration introduces the Golf Ball Drop and invites carnivalgoers to meander through the midway as they make their way to the fireworks lawn for picnicking, giant backyard games, live music, food contests, and the Fireworks Sky Concert.

Festivities begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 4 with the annual parade through downtown Calistoga. Spectators can enjoy the procession of floats, dancing horses, and special entries, and join the culminating New Era Beats Brigade marching band as they make the short trek to the Napa County Fairgrounds where the gates open at 12 p.m. for the Classic Carnival and Star-Spangled Social.

Admission is just $20 in advance for adults 18+ ($25 at-the-door), $15 in advance for ages 6-17 ($20 at-the-door), children under 5 are free.

Star-Spangled Social Volunteer Job Descriptions

Distribute & Decorate leading up to the 4th

Join us by helping to distribute promotional materials & decorate on the days leading up to the Fourth of July. Distribution of promotional material throughout the valley requires having a valid driver's license and an automobile. You will be compensated for travel. Help to decorate The Grounds, the golf carts, and our parade float in red, white & blue!

Greeter

Welcomes guests with a continuous smile. Watch the entry line so that everyone’s ticket is scanned and that they have the proper ticket for the event. Is able to express an understanding of the layout of the event and the hours of operation and specific activities within the event. This position alternates between sitting and standing for up to 4 hours.

Beverage Server

This position is responsible for ensuring that customers have a positive experience by delivering a high level of customer service at the bar. Must be 21 years or older. Certified completion of Responsible Beverage Service Program preferred. With a smile, check ID, pour wine, beer, and cocktails. No Cash handling required. Wear comfortable shoes. This position requires standing for up to 4 hours.

Old - Fashioned Races and Games Host

This fun position is for outgoing, people friendly, organized, folk wanting to have fun and interact with children of all ages. You will assist with organizing entrants for the gunny sack races, water balloon fights, and egg-on-a-spoon races. Assist guests to get team organized for each contest. Start the contest, track contest winners, award each winner and clean up area after contest. This is an outdoor position and depending on the current weather conditions, can be warm. Being able to be on your feet for a maximum of a 4 hour period, high energy level, ability to lift (i.e., watermelons, supplies for event).

Food & Merchandise Resale

Get ready to set up shop have a ball selling watermelon slices & root-beer floats on a warm summer evening. Celebrate! Napa Valley merchandise will also be for sale and pre-sold picnic packs ready for pick-up. Dress in comfortable shoes. This position requires some food service handling and standing for up to 4 hours.

Food Contest Host

This fun position is for outgoing, people friendly, organized, folk wanting to have fun and interact with children of all ages. You will assist with organizing entrants for the watermelon eating contest and the Ice-cream churnament. Assist guests to get team organized for each contest. Start the contest, track contest winners, award each winner and clean up area after contest. This is an outdoor position and depending on the current weather conditions, can be warm. Being able to be on your feet for a maximum of a 4 hour period, high energy level, ability to lift (i.e., watermelons, supplies for event).

Giant Lawn Games Host

This fun position is for outgoing, people friendly, organized, folk wanting to have fun and interact with children of all ages. You will assist with organizing the giant lawn games of Chess, Checkers, Tic-tac-toe, Cornhole, and Kerplunk, to name a few. This is an outdoor position and depending on the current weather conditions, can be warm. Being able to be on your feet for a maximum of a 4 hour period, high energy level, ability to lift lightweight supplies.
